10 December 2006. Heartbeat/Making me ashamed to feel the way that I do [Tae Wang Sa Shin Gi: Sujini, 172 words]. SET TOWARDS THE END OF THE SERIES, POSSIBLE SPOILERS.

One night, in the early days, Sujini finds herself in a tavern, downing mouthful after mouthful of wine. The baby is with a family Sujini helped in the road, the mother watching over him while the rest of her family are in bed, and Sujini is out chasing away her demons. She sits alone, but after a while she decides she needs somebody to talk to, and makes her way to a crowded table. She's never had any trouble with an audience.
She pours out her story, editing along the way in order to make herself look better, and when she reaches the end, they people around don't even realise, they are so enthralled. When they begin to clap and reach for their purses, Sujini is confused, until she realises they think she is an entertainer and is telling them a made-up story.
Who would believe that a peasant-looking girl like herself, after all, had a destiny entwined with a king?
She never touches another drop of alcohol after that night.

31_days September prompt 2: 2 September 2008. I watched Yoiko no Mikata episode 9. And therefore a YnM/Gokusen crossover was needed! 790 Words. Unfinished because writing actual whole complete fics with a plot or a point is beyond me ;) I suppose I should point out there's no spoilers for anything, and it's not hard to follow if you haven't seen one of either jdrama.-

"Hey, wait up!" Nino calls down the corridor. The studio lights in the direction he has just come from are switched off. The girls in the audience are gone, as are the V6 members. Suddenly, Nino feels very, very hesitant. His feet stick to the floor as Suzuki-kun turns to meet his eyes.
It's a little like being the only two people in the building after hours. Nino is suddenly conscious of being caught somehow by someone. He charges forward a few steps until he is only a few feet from Suzuki-kun. He even smells like girl.
"Sorry," Nino says, shrugging and trying to make it sincere and yet light all at once. Suzuki-kun smiles, whilst his eyes seem to want to spill tears.
"It's okay," he says brightly. He must be used to it by now.
He spins around again on his heels - he walks in those so well, Nino thinks to himself. It isn't until now - only now, after all this time, that Nino has discovered he can break boys hearts as well as girls.
"Uhm," he says, and though it's barely a breath, Suzuki-kun hears and glances back. His gaze is hopeful, or Nino is just imagining it. "We should, go out sometime." Nino says carefully. "I mean, if you want to!"
"I'd like that," Suzuki-kun smiles. Nino watches the way his dress moves across his body as he walks away.

Being as yet but a girl

When they step through the door together, her father's face falls. Reika unlaces her fingers from Chiba's and lets his hand fall away. The silence is brittle but Chiba glances between father and daughter and knows neither one of them is going to surrender the first words of explanation for themselves.
"I'm Chiba Takashi, sir," he says, bowing as low as he can possibly go in front of Mr Ryuzaki without looking ridiculous. He senses something more than just regular disapproval. This is not a jealous father. This is not an only parent torn at seeing his daughter with her first real boyfriend, wondering if he is being somewhat replaced.
"Nice to meet you," Mr Ryuzaki replies eventually, stiff though it is. He stands very straight and tall, reminding Chiba of the ornaments surrounding them in the great hallway. Everything in its place, perfectly positioned. And amongst it all he has brought Reika home with her jacket unbuttoned and her curly hair in disarray, her bow slipping out unknowingly.
"Perhaps I had better be going," Chiba says eventually as the silences stretches into an eternity. "I mean, I do have to be home at a reasonable time after all."
"Very responsible of you," Mr Ryuzaki says, but he is looking at Reika the entire time he speaks. She looks back without blinking, a death stare.
"I'll see you out," she says, and it unnerves Chiba, the way he is the subject of their battle of wills, and even moreso the way nobody will look at him when they are speaking to him. At the door he expects Reika to stop and say goodnight, but she follows him outside and pulls the door almost shut behind them, almost.
She looks up into his face and makes the first move. The kiss is chaste, Chiba worrying in the back of his mind that her father is only inches away, behind the door, listening out for a sign. Reika pulls away before he is ready. She smiles, but it's a sad sort of smile
"Goodnight," she says softly, and to Chiba it sounds more like goodbye.

She Being Brand New [Gokusen: girl!au]

Yamaguchi-sensei is still thinking about it later on in the staff room. After a double-period; two straight hours of class 3-D, she has a pretty good idea of how they operate already. In her family, if you can't suss a person out quickly, it can cost you your life. If you can suss out an entire group hierarchy, it can save you the same thing.
She also has a headache roughly the size of Asia.
It's while she's knocking back a couple of painkillers with bottled water that the Vice Principle announces that the collection money is missing. If 'announces' can also mean 'explodes at the top of his voice'. The painkillers go down, fortunately, but half the water sprays across Kumiko's desk. She's still trying to mop it up subtly with the sleeve of her tracksuit as she inquires into what on earth the Vice Principal is talking about.
"You can't possibly mean you think someone stole it?" she pipes up innocently. The narrowed eyes and freaky smirk in her direction insist that it is in fact exactly what the Vice Principal thinks.
"Well, it isn't someone from my class," Fujiyama-sensei shrugs, turning her face away and sticking her nose back into her magazine.
"It isn't someone from mine either!" Kumiko protests, but everyone just looks at her pityingly and shakes their heads. She's young and naive, but they needed new staff, it can't be helped.
"The girls from 3-D are just the type," the Vice Principal says, stalking the staff room with out-turned feet and one finger pointed out straight ahead of him. Kumiko can't help but feel that he's accusing her almost as much as her class, just for being their teacher. And yet, she can't for it, to have them feel the accusing stares on their backs, all the while not knowing why every teacher is so suspicious of them, out to get them.
"For being themselves!" The Vice Principal says, and Kumiko realises she's spoken the words out loud.
"Vice Principal," she begins very calmly, "have you ever taken a class with these girls?"
"What?" He frowns. "No, of course I haven't."
"Well then, how can you presume to know them?" Kumiko presses. "I may only have spent this morning with them, but I watched and listened, and I believe I know these girls very well already, by the things they don't say as much as those that they do!"
After all, 'buzz off out of my face, pigtails!' isn't really very much to go on, Kumiko thinks sourly to herself.
"In fact!" She says, not giving anyone a chance to butt in. She is, she tells herself confidently, on a roll. "I will go and speak to all the girls myself and see what they know about the collection money!"
She charges out of the door oblivious to any and all protest. She catches the mutterings fading behind her, but refuses to register the suggestion that 'tipping them off' will only make things worse.
No-one can stop her once she's made up her mind.
