Tezuka/Fuji. 149 words. Roses not as a cliche.

-

He buys a bunch of roses as opposed to just one, because it alone seems a very stark declaration of feeling. A dozen can hide many affections within, and it is a far more traditional number anyway.

Fuji raises an eyebrow when he opens the door to a blaze of red, but his smile does not falter. He looks at the flowers for a good minute, taking them in fully, before leaving Tezuka at the door and placing them, in view, on the kitchen table laid down gently.

"Let's leave them where they belong," Fuji says softly, pulling the door to a close behind him. That Tezuka has brought them because he feels it is something he simply should do on a date does not make the roses any less beautiful, Fuji thinks. But he will not continue the evening in a way such as it has begun.

Fuji/Tezuka, and the ticking hands of time. 118 words.

-

I have noticed that the people who are late are often so much jollier than the people who have to wait for them. -- E. V. Lucas

Tezuka knows as well as anyone that Fuji is not an unreliable person. He is not the kind to be late often, and not without good reason. But every single time they meet up, Fuji is last to appear out of the two of them. And always after the time set on their watches. Tezuka isn't the kind to check the ticking hands avidly, but eventually he comes to notice that it is always after exactly three minutes past the arranged time, that Fuji strolls into view from down the street. And that is when he begins to realise it is carefully arranged so, just for Fuji to see if he can drive Tezuka nuts by doing it.
